At the Firehouse, Willamette’s has its own version of Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell. The historic bell that called firefighters to action for half a century was cracked and damaged by wear, tear and time. When the firehouse was rebuilt recently, the crack was repaired.
The restored bell now has a place of honor atop the spanking new, seismically-sound, neo-traditional fire station that also houses Tualatin Valley’s Water Rescue team and apparatus. The station features a community room and all the comforts of home.
In fact, if you smell something wonderful, it’s likely to be cookies. When the crew is not fighting fires or rescuing boaters on nearby rivers, they bake a mean peanut butter treat not even your grandmother couldn’t beat. But good luck squeezing that recipe secret out of our stalwart firefighters!
