If you stop at one of the friendly establishments along Willamette Falls Drive for refreshment, a massage or a class in yoga poses and you’re very quiet you might hear the faint clang of a train. Either it’s coming from the far bank of the river or perhaps it’s the ghostwhistle of Willamette’s historic Trolley.

The Trolley was built in 1894 to deliver workers to and from their jobs at Willamette Falls. It was powered by an electric line running from the falls to Willamette’s town center. The Trolley is long gone but it left behind a boulevard long on history and broad enough for train tracks.
